Meet, Seb, the creative mind behind IbisVision’s stunning design! If you’ve used our products, visited our website or scrolled through our social media pages, you’re likely to have seen his work. Joining the team in 2023, Seb has had an amazing impact on IbisVision and our design journey. Read an interview with him all about his time at IbisVision.
Tell us more about your role at IbisVision. What are your main goals and objectives?
I focus on designing user interfaces that are not just pretty but intuitive. My main goal is to make sure every patient, no matter their tech-savviness, can navigate our telehealth platform with ease and confidence. I want people to feel like they’re using something that’s simple but powerful, and ideally leave them thinking, “Wow, that was easy!”
Can you share a little about how you got to where you are? What experience has made you the designer you are today?
I started out in graphic design and gradually shifted to UX/UI, realising I wanted to design experiences, not just images. The biggest lesson has been learning to step into the users' shoes - whether it’s someone who’s never used a digital platform or someone who’s a pro. It’s about empathy, iteration, and not being afraid to scrap something that doesn’t work.
What attracted you to work on a Telehealth/Telemedicine product?
The idea of designing something that makes healthcare more accessible was a huge draw. With Recheck, we’re allowing patients to monitor and manage their vision checks from home, which is so empowering. The challenge of designing for a wide range of users really pushed me to get creative with simplicity. Plus, it’s rewarding knowing our work helps improve people’s lives!
What are some improvements or optimizations you have implemented to enhance our user experience?
A big win for me was simplifying the patient journey. With Engage, I focused on simplifying the onboarding and set-up process. We had too many screens at first, and it wasn’t clear what came next for new users. I worked to streamline it, so now new users can jump in and start engaging with their clinician immediately.
What do you think sets our user journey and products apart from competitors?
I think Recheck and Engage stand out because they’re designed around the user’s experience from start to finish. We’re not just giving users tools; we’re guiding them through their healthcare journey with ease. The human-centred design approach we use makes it feel personal and tailored to each users needs, not like they’re just using a generic telehealth platform.
In your view, what are some of the advantages that our products deliver to our customers?
Our products make eyecare available to those who might not otherwise access, and the user experience is super smooth - no confusing screens or steps that make you want to give up halfway through. Also, there’s a real focus on making patients feel supported throughout their journey. That’s a huge advantage for us. It’s about building trust with the user, which I think we do really well.
What aspects of working with IbisVision technology do you find most rewarding or exciting?
It’s got to be the impact. I’m designing something that helps people take control of their health in a way that feels easy and seamless. The tech itself is pretty cutting-edge, but knowing that my designs are making healthcare more accessible to so many people - that’s what gets me excited every day. Plus, working with such a great team who are always pushing boundaries makes it all the more rewarding.
