There is an inflection point for a growing company when you suddenly peer over the horizon (there's going to be a few allusions to sight in this blog!) and you see the future set out before you, one where not only you but everybody else can see your potential – a future where your business is central to the sector you're working in.
We don't mean to be brash but we think we've got that feeling after a heady few days at New York's Vision Expo where a lot of people came to see us. And we mean a lot – when we got back our CEO nearly fell off his chair when we told them that we collected 70 new leads from our interactions with all the companies there. Believe us, 70 contacts is a major deal for a B2B company that's already making waves in the optical health sector through our proprietary remote eyecare technology. For a company with big ideas and big plans the path for growth is through working with partners across the sector. The interest in our products not only validates them but also validates our decision to invest in both our customer services and operations to meet this demand.
So what garnered all this interest? At the event we launched IBISrecheck, which empowers patients to measure their prescription themselves over the Internet. Our visitors loved our IBISrecheck house that allowed our visitors to experience what it's like to check on your prescription from the comfort of your own home. We also showed off our truly groundbreaking IBISengage platform, which uses our proprietary refraction technology to integrate clinicians fully into the patient experience over nothing more complicated than a computer with an Internet connection. Our vision (yes, another allusion to sight) is for an optometry sector that can serve the widest possible community as efficiently as possible through technology, and that's something that attendees at the Expo bought into.
It means a lot that big companies attending the event came to see us and we were delighted to have conversations with people from the likes of Zenni, Essilor Luxottica, Kaiser Permanente, Fitting Box and Warby Parker. Our philosophy is to meet customers where they are, so each relationship is individual and demands individual attention.
As a result, conversations not only progressed around the implementation of our software but also onto unique partnership opportunities. We don't just sell to other companies – our plan is to work with our partners.
So all in all, a huge success. The only downside? All those plans to visit Saks and MoMA had to be set aside – we were just too busy meeting lots of new friends. So we’re afraid no photos from the top of the Empire State – just us having some fun in front of our display. Thanks to all for a great Expo.
